Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as a public speaking. She created Feminist Frequency, a site with videos and guest posts discussing the depictions of females in pop culture. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and American feminist media critic. Feminist Frequency is a site to educate women about their role in the narratives of pop culture, is her brainchild. Additionally, she serves as the executive director. Committed to deconstructing the stereotypes associated with women in pop culture, she is a vocal advocate for issues relating to targeted exploitation of women and the other marginalized groups of people in the online space. Sarkeesian holds a Masters in social and political thinking at York University. As a public speaker, she's extremely sought-after and has been a speaker at TEDxWomenXOXO as well as the United Nations Broadband Working Group. Since her early years, Sarkeesian was fascinated with gender issues and feminist thinking. While still at school in 2009, she created her Feminist Frequency Website. Someone who hoped to start a web-series examining the representation of gender in video games, she was targeted by the internet campaign. She was not deterred by the assault, actually, it just reinforced her desire to become feminist and media critic. Her numerous contributions to the feminist field have been recognized by numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian is an award winner for her media criticism and is the co-founder of Feminist Frequency an educational nonprofit that explores the representations of women in popular cultural and the narratives that surround them.
